Best gaming computers – My top pics 2018…

There are many factors that make buying a gaming console vs a computer appealing. Cost, convenience and mobility to name a few. So, why buy a gaming PC?

The most obvious reason in my books is the ability to upgrade. A console will always remain the same as the day you bought it. When you buy a PS3 you can only play PS3 games (though some PS3s offer backwards compatibility).

But when you want to play a PS4 game you have to buy a whole new system. A gaming PC allows you to upgrade to meet the required specs to play new games.

Next, the graphics on a computer has the potential to far outshine that of the PS4 or XBOX One. You can have much smoother game play as well as a more quality picture.

Multiplayer is free on computer. On the next gen consoles you have to pay for a subscription in order to play online with friends. (PS plus for PlayStation and Xbox Live for Xbox). Though the charges aren’t very expensive, they will add up over the years.

You can download or create mods (modifications) on PC. Mods can allow you to change any aspect of a game. It can change the quality or add additional content. When it comes to Mods, the possibilities are literally endless….

Though you might not be able to play the exclusive console games on PC, you will find a larger selection than you will on any console. This is just a few of the reasons I choose to game on PC. Below are the best gaming computers I have listed my four favorite gaming computers…

Cyberpower PC GXIVR8020a5 – Extreme Machine….

#1

4 out of 5 stars

The first one that I want to mention is the Cyberpower Gamer Extreme. This machine is very powerful and cost effective. It would be hard, if not impossible, to build a PC of the same specs for this price. This is the best performance I have seen for the price.

It is VR compatible out of the box. And this thing just looks amazing. The front and side panels are tempered glass with led showing off the sleek interior design. This computer is really something to look at.

There are two USB 3.0 on the top. On the back you will find four USB 3.1 type-a, two USB 2.0 (for keyboard and mouse), Display port and HDMI. It also comes equipped for HTC VIVE and Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets.

It has an 8th gen i5-8400 Intel core processor which has 9M cache and up to 4.0 GHz. There is a 4 GB Radeon RX580 GPU and 8 GB of DDR4 RAM.

You can choose between a 120 GB SSD+1TB HDD or just the 1TB HDD. The 120 GB+1 TB version also comes with GTX 1060 which is amazing! It is called by some the most advanced GPU.

This is an excellent choice for those on a budget or as a first gaming PC. This will put you in the game with monster machines for around half the cost.

One thing that I don’t like about this computer is the lack of an optical disk drive. I understand that it is not essential for a gaming, as you can download all of your games. You can easily buy an external disk drive so it is really no big deal.

The second thing I noticed was ventilation. This beautiful design has one flaw (that I notice) which is, there is not much airflow. This shouldn’t become a problem but I would keep an eye out for overheating during intense gameplay.

Overall I feel that this is a great gaming PC for entry level and experienced gamers. The most important thing I look for in a gaming PC is the ease of upgrading and the room for expansion. This delivers both!

Asus ROG GR8 II – Dynamite in a Small Form package!!!

3.5 out of 5 stars

Dynamite comes in small packages!

This next computer is called the Asus and it is small. This tiny beast has 16 GB DDR4 RAM. It is your choice of either 7th gen i5-7400 Processor with Gtx 1060 3GB GPU or i7 core processor with the GTX 1060 6GB GPU. This means beautiful HD and 4K gaming!

Measuring at only 11 inches tall it is very light and takes up little room. Weighing in at just 8 pounds makes it very easy to move. Just so you understand, this is smaller than the PS4!

It also has VR friendly connections. It has a single DP (Display Port) and dual HDMI allowing you to leave the monitor or TV connected while using the VR headset.

It has Aura Sync which allows it to sync multiple devices, such as headphones, keyboard and mouse, to the lighting effects. There is an unlimited spectrum of colors waiting to be synced.

There are two USB 3.1 which deliver 10 GBPS speeds. It comes with Intel 1219-Vlan which allows for a faster and smoother gaming experience. (High UDP and TCP throughput). It also boasts a 802.11AC wireless connection so you can connect wirelessly without loosing performance!

The main thing that I notice, it has a 512 GB SSD (solid state drive). Though that will truly enhance the response I would consider adding more storage for those huge game files.

Luckily it comes with an open 2.5 bay that allows a larger SSD or a HDD. Beyond that you will find that there is not much room for upgrading. I don’t like it but, with a PC of this size I don’t really expect much room.

Another thing to consider is, the cooling design depends on airflow entering the bottom and exiting in the back and top of the PC. So it needs to be standing up at all times. This might not really a big deal but, I would  try to place it in a safe place so it wont be kicked over.

That being said, it is a great computer and is definitely one of the best Mini computers I have seen. It is not often that I see a mini PC with the full power of a Desktop and this one shines over desktops of the same specs.

Micro Raptor Z55 – The Micro Titan…

4.5 out of 5 stars!

Tiny TItan

Now to introduce two titans. First, we have the Micro Raptor. This computer is a monster! It is nothing less than a high end gaming dream machine. This computer has everything I look for in a gaming PC.

It consists of ultra-performance hardware. It has 32GB DDR4-2400 RAM, 525GB MX300 SSD + 3TB-7200 RPM HDD, Quad Core i7-7700k processor and 8GB GeForce 1080. It has one USB 3.0 type C, four USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports.

This computer will allow almost flawless 4k gaming. I haven’t seen much it can’t do. This is a powerhouse.

The hardware is very easy to access and upgrade. It has five drive bays giving plenty of room for expansion.

Each one of these computers are meticulously hand crafted. They use only quality parts and their micro PCs outperform competition by 30%. They take pride in the efficiency of their computers and have over 60 editors choice awards.Velocity truly are overachievers in the computer world, and I solute them.

The ONLY thing I would change is the bland design. I do like the fact that they concentrated mainly on the performance but I feel that it could use a little more “gaming computer appeal”.

I would put this as #1 on my list.

iBuyPower – Last but not least….

4 out of 5 stars

Snowblind

Last on the list is the iBuyPower Snowblind PC. This is a true titan.

One of the most interesting things about this computer is the side panel. It has a FULLY FUNCTIONAL built in transparent display with a 1280×1024 resolution. That alone makes this PC one of a kind.  The smoke effect (seen above) is my favorite.

Not only can you utilize this screen with animated wallpapers, you do anything with it. You can monitor performance or use it as a second monitor for streaming. You can literally use it for anything!

This computer comes with the GeForce 1080 TI 11GB GPU, Intel i7-8700k 3.70GHZ processor, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 3TB HDD, 249GB SSD, RGB and is VR ready.

This is the most powerful computer on this list and can easily execute 4k and VR gaming. Nothing thrown at this machine seems to slow it down. It is not only a work of art, but a high end performance computer.

Though I think what really makes this one stand out is the transparent display on the side panel, this is one of the best computers I’ve ever seen. This computer is the coolest looking computer and has super performance.

It is, justifiably, on the pricey side though. This is for the gamer that wants it all. Power, beauty, versatility and performance comes at a price. There also seems to be a performance issue with wireless gaming. I usually connect directly to the router anyways but, many people prefer to connect wirelessly.

This is the Rolex of gaming PCs. You can buy or take a closer look below,

Play on the best

I know that gaming computers are not cheap but, if you are a true gamer you will appreciate the amount of performance that they offer. A gamer should take pride in his equipment because it truly is special.

Gaming PCs offer so much but they do come at a cost. They cost more than consoles. You have to check the specs of your computer to assure it will play on your system. The power consumption is alot higher vs a console. To be honest there are many more things that make a console more appealing.

Being a gamer, I think that the pros definitely outweigh the cons of having a gaming computer. I know that PC and console gamers have both always felt themselves superior. But in honesty, both sides have their strengths and weaknesses. Though I am partial to PC, I  do see the value of owning a console.

The gaming world is amazing no matter how you play. If you are new to gaming, I welcome you. I hope that this list has given you insight on the vast opportunity that we all have. There is literally no limit to the heights we can climb.

With technology evolving so rapidly, our gaming potential has skyrocketed. I can not wait to see what tomorrow brings! Please feel free to comment and let me know which system you feel I should’ve mentioned and why. And if there is any way I could help you, my email is also posted below. Game on!!!!

Best of luck,
